Abstract

One of the efforts to reduce students difficulties in learning mathematics is by trying to implement learning effectively and accompanied by the use of varied media or teaching aids. Based on observations at Bimbel Triwala, there are still some things that must be improved to support students abilities in the process of learning mathematics, namely the lack of student motivation to learn mathematics which has an impact on student achievement which decreases due to the influence of the lack of media that attracts students to learn mathematics. Seeing these problems, researchers tried in this study using the number line car media which is expected to be able to improve counting skills, especially in addition and subtraction operations and are expected to be able to apply it in everyday life. This study aims to determine the improvement of counting skills in addition and subtraction operations of kindergarten students at Bimbel Triwala through number line car props. This research used experimental method with one group pre-test post-test design. The research sample was 6 kindergarten students at Bimbel Triwala. Data were collected through tests and observations. The results showed that there was a significant increase in students counting ability after using the number line car props. This is evidenced by the pretest average value of 3.33 and the posttest average value of 4.83 and the Asymp. Sig (2-tailed) value of 0.024.
